Marcie Hamrick, MD

Dr Hamrick’s Departure:

December 29, 2012

Dear One Sky patients,

Our practice continues to evolve. We understand that the transitions in your care may have been challenging for you. The doctors and staff of One Sky Family Medicine want to share with you a bit about the history of our recent changes, and to give you resources to make sure that you continue to have stable, compassionate and quality integrative primary care.

About a year and a half ago, a group of providers within One Sky Wellness Associates planned to open a new integrative clinic and natural birth center, Village Wellness and Birth Center, which opened in November 2011 and was temporarily housed in the One Sky clinic space. In March of 2012, however, the new project went on hold. Just six of us re-formed as One Sky Family Medicine as a result of this change. Transitions, of course, seem to lead to more transitions…

In August, Dr. Adams announced that she would be retiring. A couple of months later, Dr. Kneisl announced that she had accepted a leadership role at Qliance, an innovative alternative healthcare model organization which is growing in Seattle. With the departure of two of our three medical doctors, we expected to have 2 new providers joining the practice to care for their patients. Both of these providers had to change their plans just before their anticipated start date at One Sky Family Medicine. Dr. Marcie Hamrick has been extremely busy trying to care for those of you who wanted to stay at OSFM, and has not been able to meet the need.

Dr. Hamrick has recently announced that she too will be leaving One Sky in February and joining Qliance at their new location in Edmonds.  If you have been cared for by Dr. Hamrick or Dr. Kneisl and loved your care here, please consider following them to their new practices at Qliance. For a low monthly fee, patients have great access to their doctor, in person, by phone or by electronic messaging.  Patients generally carry a low cost, higher deductible health insurance plan as well, for use when the need arises.

We realize that Dr. Hamrick’s departure will be difficult for many of you, and have committed as a group to working to make this change to a new provider as smooth as possible. Our three naturopathic physicians will continue to offer primary care for adults, children and infants at OSFM.

Marcie Hamrick, MD, board-certified in family medicine, loves seeing families and their children for primary and preventive care. She practices holistically and integratively, looking at the root cause of health issues, and addressing these issues with any of a number of therapies which may include nutrition, lifestyle modification, herbs and supplements, counseling, as well as traditional pharmaceuticals as necessary. She has a special interest in mind-body medicine and stress management for anxiety and stress-related health problems, and uses biofeedback training, mindfulness meditation instruction, and yoga therapy as tools to help her patients. She has a friendly and casual style, and meets her patients wherever they are in their journey toward health, and works along side them in making choices along the way.

Marcie is a long-time yoga and meditation student, and is currently studying with Jon Kabat-Zinn and the Center for Mindfulness in Healthcare and Society toward certification in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program. She does intermittently offer mindfulness retreats and workshops. She teaches yoga at the Island Yoga Center on Vashon Island and is available for instruction in viniyoga practices.

In her free time, Marcie enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her wonderful canine companion Ruby, hiking and kayaking, bird watching, gardening, and dancing. For more information about Marcie and her latest offerings, her website is
